✧ BirthWright Collective | Birth Doula Support in Philadelphia, PA, and surrounding counties ✧
Birth honored • Choices respected • You supported
BirthWright Collective is Doula Mel’s heart-centered birth doula practice, created to walk alongside families in Philadelphia, PA and surrounding counties during one of the most sacred and transformative moments of life. This practice was born from Melanie’s deep belief that every birthing person deserves to feel heard, respected, supported, and empowered throughout their pregnancy and birth experience.
Melanie knows that birth is not just a physical event — it is an emotional, spiritual, and deeply personal journey. At BirthWright Collective, her role is not to take over, direct, or override your choices, but to gently guide, support, advocate, and hold space for you as you move through labor and birth in your own way.

Meet Doula Mel
Doula Mel (Melanie Wright) is a caregiver, community advocate, and birth doula whose work is rooted in compassion, education, and respectful support. As the founder of BirthWright Collective, Doula Mel brings a calm, grounding presence into the birth space — offering reassurance, comfort measures, advocacy, and informed guidance throughout pregnancy and labor.
Her approach is shaped by her work in childcare, nonprofit leadership, and survivor advocacy. This trauma-informed, people-centered foundation allows her to support birthing people with sensitivity, dignity, and deep respect for bodily autonomy and personal choice.
Though Doula Mel’s practice is growing, her commitment to continuous learning, reflective practice, and honoring each family’s unique birth story remains unwavering.
Why I Became a Doula
BirthWright Collective was born from Doula Mel’s own lived experiences as a birthing person.
Mel has two children, and with each birth she felt the absence of the steady, knowledgeable support she now offers others. Looking back, she knows her experiences would have been profoundly different if a doula had been present — someone to explain her options, help her advocate for herself, and hold space for her through the intensity and vulnerability of labor.
Those experiences planted a seed that later grew into BirthWright Collective.
Doula Mel became a doula because she believes no one should feel unheard, unsupported, or alone while giving birth. Her “why” is rooted in advocacy — helping birthing people understand their choices, trust their bodies, and speak up for what they need in moments when doing so can feel overwhelming.
Every family she supports is, in a way, an extension of her own story.
She brings not only training and education into the birth space, but deep empathy, lived understanding, and a fierce commitment to helping others experience birth with more support, dignity, and empowerment than she once had.
